Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) opened the Raider Care Center at Northbrook High School this month, marking a milestone in student mental health and social support services.
This initiative, made possible by a generous $200,000 grant from UnitedHealthcare, is a collaborative effort with Spring Branch Community Health Center.
The Raider Care Center aims to foster a supportive environment where students can access crucial mental health resources and connect with trusted adults.
“Providing access to these resources can be pivotal in ensuring a student’s consistent school attendance,” stated HP Hyder, Principal of Northbrook High School.“This center is instrumental in removing the barriers to mental health services and addressing the stigma often associated with seeking help.”
The center will offer a range of support options throughout the school day, including access before and after school, during lunch, and whenever students need a respite or counseling.
It features art and mindfulness supplies, along with a basic needs closet filled with snacks, toiletries, and school supplies.
