Josue Giron, a member of Northbrook High School’s (NHS) Class of 2025, looks back on his high school years with gratitude and pride.
From his growth as a student and athlete to the strong sense of community he experienced, Josue says his time at Northbrook has exceeded his expectations.
“I’m incredibly grateful for my high school experience,” Josue said. “I grew as a student, athlete, and as a person. The support from my teachers and administrators has been a vital part of my development.”
One moment that stands out to Josue came early in his senior year football season. “Week 2, we played our rivals Spring Woods and won 7-0,” he recalled. “The stands were packed with students cheering us on, which made that victory even more memorable.”
Josue also treasures the memories from the school’s soccer playoff games. “Seeing the community come together and watching the soccer team build pride in our school was surreal,” he said. “Whether we won or lost, the support and emotion showed how much everyone cared. It made me proud of where I’m from.”
Teachers have played a significant role in shaping Josue’s goals. “Every day, my teachers go above and beyond to create a supportive environment,” he said. “Their dedication encourages me to work hard and believe in my potential.”
After graduation, Josue plans to attend Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where he will major in economics and join the football team. Looking ahead, he hopes to return to Houston to establish a ranch business and secure a career in sales.
Confidence has been one of Josue’s key personal growth areas. “I’ve learned how to speak in front of an audience and communicate with people in leadership positions without feeling timid,” he said. “This confidence helped me earn scholarships, become team captain, and prepare for college football.”
Josue takes time to thank the people who supported him along the way. “To my teachers, thank you for guiding me through academic challenges,” he said. “To my friends, I appreciate your support whenever I needed it. And to my family, thank you for believing in me and making sacrifices for my future.”
His biggest goal for the future is simple but meaningful. “I want to help my parents retire and give back everything they sacrificed for me and my siblings,” Josue said. “I hope to make them proud by achieving financial stability and enjoying the fruits of their labor.”
