 Jamie Henk - Varsity Coach

Coach Henk is a Houston native that started playing softball at the age 4 years old and continued for 16 years after that. This passion and competitiveness has now carried over into her coaching and teaching career.

Coach Henk was a 2014 graduate from Porter High School where she started on Varsity softball and basketball all 4 years of her high school career. After high school, she continued her softball career through an athletic scholarship under Head Coach Kelly Saenz at San Jacinto College-South. Jamie started both seasons in the outfield and was a right-handed hitter.

In her first year at San Jacinto, she helped lead the team to an overall record of 34-25 (15-9 in Conference play) and placed 7th in the Region XIV tournament.

During the 2016 season and in her sophomore year at San Jac, Jamie helped lead the team to an overall record of 38-25 (14-10 in conference play), 1st NFCA Midwest, a Regional XIV tournament Championship, and advancing to the Women’s College World Series where they finished 6th.

After her 2 years at SJC, Coach Henk transferred to Sam Houston State University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Minor in Secondary Education in May of 2019. During this time, Coach Henk worked under Head Softball Coach Michelle Rochinski and Head Volleyball Coach Tommie Sledge where she picked up some more competitive and relentless coaching habits.

Since the 3rd grade, Coach Henk has always wanted to be a softball coach that teaches Health Fitness. She now gets to live that dream every day here at Northbrook High School as the Head softball and JV volleyball coach where she teaches 4 sections of Health Fitness.

 Coach Gomez - JV Coach

Coach Gomez was born in Mexico City. Even from an early age, he was attracted to all kinds of sports. Soccer, of course, was a national way of life, but his first experience in organized sports was playing baseball when he was 7 years old.

He moved to the United States with his family at the age of 11 to Katy. He began playing football in 7th grade, and it became his primary sport until he graduated from Katy High School. His high school football experience included a trip the the State Championship his Junior year, and he credits the impact his coaches had on him as the reason he decided to become a teacher and coach.

He attended Texas A&M University, where he was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets. He graduated in 2001 with a degree in Mathematics, and a minor in Education. His first job as a teacher also included his first position as an Assistant Softball Coach at Anderson-Shiro High School. A year later, he was promoted to Head Coach for the Lady Owls, and he led them to their first playoff appearance in school history.

His desire to coach football led him back to Katy ISD in 2004, where he helped open Morton Ranch High School. He spent four years there, as an assistant coach in both football and softball.

Most recently, he was at Beckendorff Junior High coaching just about everything: football, basketball, soccer and even pole vault. He is beyond excited to start a new career chapter at Northbrook, coaching football and making a return to softball.
Coach Gomez is happily married to his wife Beth El, and they have two future All-Stars (Ashlynn age 4 and Alden age 1).
