What is the Childress Foundation Academy? |
| Former Houston Oiler football player Ray Childress and his wife Kara started the Childress Foundation in the mid-1990's as an organization to help the youth in Houston. Their focus from the beginning was to see that kids graduated, that students had a place to fit in and become involved, and the Academy members had opportunities for volunteer service. Ray and Kara Childress have a strong belief in the value of community service and that has become an important component in the Academy. The program also offers kids the chance to do many activities that may otherwise be denied them. Since its start in 1995, students have participated in volunteer service, camping trips, field trips, and many other activities because of the Childress Foundation. |
