Each grading period, the top students are recognized with  the Academic Achievement Award. In addition to the certificate, the honor students are rewarded with a night out. These outing include dinners with Ray Childress, Houston Aeros hockey games, Houston Astros baseball games, games and dinner at Jillian's,  and other  rewards. In addition, each year 2 students from each grade level are recognized the the CHILDRESS AWARD. This is presented to the student who serves as the best model of academic achievement, volunteer service, and leadership. In addition to recognizing honor roll students, the Childress Academy also organizes incentive trips for those meeting grade, attendance, and behavior expectations. These trips have included going to the movies, ice skating, roller skating, rock climbing, and bowling. Every six weeks 35 to 40 students plus 3 or 4 teachers go on these Friday afternoon excursions. Ray Childress frequently joins the students to skate or rock climb.
