Course Objectives

Students will be instructed in the 5 foreign language skill areas: listening, reading, speaking, writing, and culture. I hope to instill an appreciation for the language,  the culture as well as  a desire to continue in foreign language studies. Special emphasis will be placed on communication and German/French will be spoken often in class. Students will use the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, and showing in the language they are studying. They will gain knowledge and understanding of the German- /French- speaking cultures as well as make connections with other subject areas and acquire information by using German/French. Students will also develop an insight into the nature of language and culture by comparing German/French to the student’s first language and culture. With the help of technology, the student will participate in communities around the world by using German/French.
