TAKS Preparation:
We prepare the sophomores to take the TAKS at Northbrook
by helping them improve their writing skills and practice
on reading and answering the questions. My students had a
90% passing rate on reading and writing last year.

Books:
Red Sky At Morning:
A young boy is confronted with growing
up early when his father joins the navy during
World War II. He moves from Alabama to New
Mexico where he adjusts to a different culture and 
and makes new friends.

Julius Caesar:
A classic Shakespeare story about the ruler of Rome
during its tumultuous time. In the play Caesar is murdered
by conspirators one of whom is his closest friend Brutus.

Of Mice and Men:
A heart-wrenching story about two workers during the
Great Depression and their trek to find a place to live
and call their own. This is one of Steinbeck's greatest works.
