I am
enjoying my 8th year as Theater Arts Head Director at Northbrook High
School and working on play productions.
Previously, my 2 years at Conroe High School, involved teaching all
levels of Theatre Arts and Stagecraft, and the direction of 2 shows per
year. I worked as Technical Director for Drama department events and
other school and outside events in our facility. I oversaw many
improvements to the facility, as well as organizing safe storage of
materials.
My
work at the Cyprus Lake Center for the Arts in Florida, included the
teaching of Stagecraft, 2 sections of Theatre History, and team teaching
Advanced Acting and Playwriting.
As
a teacher, I have developed and implemented many successful units of
study. My expectation for level of achievement is equivalent to 1st Year
College and I have had many students go on to achieve great success in
college or professional theatre.
In
the capacity of Technical Director for Flagler Auditorium in Florida for
5 years, I had many responsibilities and roles. Our Theatre's working
season consisted of approximately 150 events per year. A sample of the
season would include the following: 8 Broadway touring shows, 6 big band
performances, 4 "oldies" bands (such as Bill Haley’s Comets, the
Coasters, the Drifters, Beatle-mania, etc.,) 15 children’s touring
shows, assorted educational touring programs, Up with People, All
American Singers, 8 main stage and 4 black box shows for the Drama
Department, and various High School and School District events.
My
duties there have included the maintaining and ordering lighting
equipment, accessories, lamp and gel stock. The keeping of the sound
equipment in order and troubleshooting sound problems, designing the
sound system upgrades and modifying the acoustics. I trained adult and
student crews, designed and built sets for the High School, and local
Theatre productions. I handled technical scheduling and crew calls for
all shows, creating light plots for shows from Broadway to Community
Theatre, High School to Kindergarten Graduation, and maintaining the fly
system. While throughout it all, the teaching of stagecraft classes (3
years half time and 2 years full time) and a one-credit block of Drama
1.
