Mr. Ortega’s Bio

This is Mr. Ortega’s sixth year at Northbrook High School teaching the Ragin’ Raider Band as the Assistant Band Director. He has been playing saxophone for over 27 years and has playing experience with all woodwind instruments.

Mr. Ortega graduated from Texas A&M-Kingsville in the fall of 1998. While there, he was involved with the Javelina Marching Band as section leader, first chair in both the Symphonic and Concert Band, and Lead Alto and Baritone Saxophone in TAMUK Jazz Band’s I and II.

Mr. Ortega’s previous teaching assignments have been at Premont, Texas as the Junior High Band Director for two years and then as the High School Band Director for two years. He also taught at Zapata, Texas for half a year.

While at NHS, Mr. Ortega team teaches with Mr. Gonzalez and assists with the Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Color Guard, and in the past, the NHS Mariachi, jazz bands and various small emsembles.
