About Me

  • I have been teaching for many years.  My focus has been ESL (English as a Second Language).  I strive to find creative ways to teach new arrivals English. At the same time I want students to enjoy the rigor and relevance that learning a new language can bring.  My students come from all over the world; Mexico, Cuba, El Salvador, Vietnam, Honduras, Venezuela, Guatemala, and Korea.  Each student brings a unique cultural experience to our classroom that enriches the learning process.  I believe in creating a safe, risk free environment for students to master the English language in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
  • I also serve as the ESL Department Chair making sure that all the ESL teachers work together and have the materials and support needed to give our students a hands on education with rigor and relevance.
  • My other administrative duties include keeping records for all LEP (Limited English Proficient) students on campus.  I provide testing support and coordinate the TELPAS, STAAR L, and TAKS for our ESL students.
