About Mr Ortega

• Gus Ortega is beginning his 13th year in Music Education.  Mr Ortega is currently the Assistant Band Director at Northbrook High School. He has been at NHS since 2003.  Prior to that he taught middle school band and high school band in Premont, TX. He graduated from Texas A&M -Kingsville with a degree in Music Education in 1999.  He studied saxophone, clarinet, and flute in college.  He enjoys playing saxophone but is most at home playing the bari sax.  Mr. Ortega is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi-Honorary Band Fraternity, Texas Music Educator's Association and Texas Band Master's Association. Mr. Ortega is married to Elisha whom he met in college.  During his junior  year they marched next to each other and have been good friends ever since. They both enjoy performing, playing saxophone duets, studying, listening to, and teaching music.
