1st, 4th, 5th, 6th - Period,  Art I

2nd, & 7th - Period,  Art II

Art I - An introduction to: ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, art history, & stained glass.

Art II -  Students apply previous knowledge to create well thought out projects.  This course is geared toward                 entering and being excepted into art contests/competitions. Also, students are developing their resume             & portfolio, to show a College or University.

 We just completed the Rodeo 2-D and 3-D Art Contest. Northbrook had blue, red, and white ribbon winners.

 Last week we explored six watercolor techniques  and created a finished painting.

Currently ( 1-25-11/1-28-11)the students are in the Library researching Famous Artists. We are exploring Time Periods, Styles, and different Art Movements throughout History. This research will assist students in developing ideas for their own artwork. 

Next week we will explore acrylic painting techniques.

The   newspringcenter.org    will host the 4th annual art contest for six Springbranch schools. So, we will be busy creating 2-D and 3-D works to sell to the highest bidder. Northbrook has done well at this contest/auction. The students receive all the money in the form of gift cards to spend various businesses in the Springbranch area. Students can also put money in a savings account.
