
Dance I & II are introductory classes to the basic fundamentals of movement. Ballet, jazz, precision dance, modern, improvisation, choreography, and aerobic conditioning are the elements that will be emphasized. In addition, students will receive an overview of the history and development of dance, and we will study some influential dance personalities. Dance is a performance-based class allowing students to gain an appreciation of the arts and the physicality of dance. Students will do in-class performances to test mastery of certain dance skills, and there will be some performances in the evenings or after school. These performance opportunities will help to increase student’s dance skills, self-confidence and self discipline along with providing an outlet for physical conditioning and creative expression.
The Bandoleras Dance Team class, Dance I-IV 7th period are advanced level dance classes associated with the Northbrook Bandoleras Dance Team. This is aperformance-based class allowing students to gain an appreciation of the arts and the physicality of dance. This class requires after school participation at dance team practices and evening and weekend performances at football games, pep rallies, competitions and dance concerts. This course will explore more advanced levels of various styles of dance including ballet, jazz, precision dance, kick, modern, improvisation, choreography, and aerobic conditioning.
